Thailand’s official travel app, TAGTHAi, is making waves in the tourism industry with its innovative features and sustainable approach. TAGTHAi stands for the Thai Digital Platform Social Enterprise Co. Ltd. You pronounce it as “Tak-Thaai,” which means “greetings” in Thai. The all-in-one platform integrates cutting-edge technology, positioning itself as an essential tool for visitors exploring the Land of Smiles.
To celebrate its partnerships with the public and private sectors, TAGTHAi recently gathered stakeholders and 40 organizations at The Royal Bangkok Sports Club. This included the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Tourism Council of Thailand, and the Dusit Thani Group. Also present were the Thailand Science Research and Innovation, Kasikorn Bank, Siam Piwat, and the True Digital Group.
TAGTHAi’s success stems from its extensive network of partnerships. These collaborations help the platform spotlight lesser-known destinations while supporting local businesses. As a result, the app not only benefits travelers, but also uplifts communities in secondary cities.
AI and sustainability at its core
Sustainability remains at the heart of TAGTHAi’s mission. The platform aligns with Thailand’s ‘Happy Model’ strategy, focusing on healthy living and meaningful experiences. By promoting secondary cities and local culture, TAGTHAi encourages travelers to explore beyond traditional hotspots. This approach not only reduces overcrowding but also fosters sustainable economic growth in under-visited regions.
Over two million international tourists have downloaded it, showing a 100% increase in its user base in a year. Travelers appreciate its all-in-one features, which include transportation booking, itinerary management, and local tips.
The platform’s technological advancements further set it apart. In partnership with Google Cloud, TAGTHAi recently introduced AI-powered features like the ‘Design My Trip’ tool. This innovation provides personalized itineraries based on travelers’ preferences, making trip planning effortless. Additionally, its integration of Thai QR Payment ensures seamless transactions, simplifying the travel experience for international tourists.
“We have partnered with Google Cloud to use Generative AI to pioneer a comprehensive personal travel plan,” said Mrs. Thiratida Kuvantrarai, CEO of Thai Digital Platform Social Enterprise Co., Ltd.
“For the next step, TAGTHAi still keeps putting efforts to generate advantages for Thailand’s tourism industry, respond to the needs of tourists, and create opportunities and income for Thai entrepreneurs in local areas. Also, we hope that all partners and stakeholders will continuously contribute to the growth and success of this national tourism platform together”.
TAGTHAi partnership with the TAT
Earlier this year, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TAGTHAi. This strategic partnership aims to boost tourism by leveraging TAGTHAi’s capabilities as a comprehensive digital travel assistant.
By integrating tourism data and streamlining services, the collaboration intends to promote Thailand as a premier global destination. Under the MOU, TAT will advertise TAGTHAi through its various platforms and activities. Meanwhile, TAGTHAi will provide information on tourists’ travel preferences in Thailand.
Prior to the MOU, the two entities had already partnered on the TAGTHAi Pass, a digital tourism pass. The pass enables travelers to make just one payment across different tourism-related services. This includes tourist attractions, workshops, restaurants, and spas.
