Making a Splash for Songkran
Preparations are in full swing for Thailand’s Songkran, the country’s traditional New Year celebration from April 13 to 15. Demand for travel skyrockets during this time, with families reuniting and locals visiting local destinations. In response, Thai Airways is introducing exciting new promotions and expanded operations services.
Special Fare for Songkran 2025
To make travel more affordable, Thai Airways is offering 30% discounts on select domestic flights. Specifically, these apply to key routes such as Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Khon Kaen.
These Songkran fare discounts are available for travel between April 11 and 17, 2025. Normally, regular fares for such flights cost around THB 5,000. But with the promo, the price will go down to THB 3,500.
Moreover, Thai Airways has allocated over 1,500 discounted seats to accommodate travelers during the busy Songkran week. Correspondingly, authorities expect this move to ease travel expenses and boost domestic tourism.
Response to Songkran Push
This promotional campaign is part of a broader initiative under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport. The government has urged airlines to lower fares and increase capacity to help Thais travel affordably during Songkran. In response, Thai Airways quickly responded to the call.
Notably, authorities expect other domestic carriers to follow suit in offering travel incentives during this peak season.
More Seats, Bigger Aircraft
To match the spike in demand for Songkran, Thai Airways will also deploy larger aircraft on popular routes. For example, flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Phuket will use wide-body jets like the Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 787-9, and Airbus A330-300.
This upgrade from smaller Airbus A320 aircraft significantly increases seat availability per flight. As a result, more travelers can enjoy a comfortable and spacious journey.
Booking Details and Availability
Promo fare tickets for Songkran are available now and people can book them until March 21, 2025. Travelers must act quickly, as seats are limited. More importantly, they must make all bookings through official Thai Airways channels.
Travelers can reserve tickets via the Thai Airways website, sales offices, or the 24-hour Contact Center at 0-2356-1111. In addition, they must check the terms and conditions, as specific fare rules may apply.
